Laicity, in its deepest bases, is an universal principle. The separation of the different churches and the State represents a progress of humanity towards the respect of the human being, his free choices, its faiths or its absence of faith, and of its right to change some.

It is also the necessary condition to live and let live. Where laicity is not recognized, the freedoms of conscience and of expression are scoffed, the women's rights are non-existent or in retreat, the equal rights between women and men are denied. Secularity seems itself attacked at the same time by all religious fanaticisms and fanatics of a deregulation of
the world which, under covered of law of the Market, aims at controlling weakest.

Throughout the world, of the integrist forces carrying one totalitarian ideology use the intimidation, the murders and terrorism to try to impose their hegemony. Today, the islamist integrism is the principal threat against freedoms, not only in what it baptizes "ground Islam", but in all the parts of the world, of the Far East in the extreme West, of Baltic north in the African South. In front of the threats and with the murders
which those undergo today which, in the democratic countries, criticize the Islamism of conquest. In front of the threats and with the murders of which are victims, in the name of the religion, those which aspire to freedom in country under laws Moslem. In front of the islamist speech, with the communautarisms and theirs henchmen, who divides the populations and the "communities" and which revive the hatred of the others. In front of the offensives reiterated of the islamist networks to try to fire the Moslem world against the democratic
countries. In front of lobbying of the fundamentalisms with the international authorities (UNO and its institutions) to muzzle freedom of expression while wanting to establish at the worldwide level, offence of blasphemy.

In front of this rise of the dangers


a world mobilization is essential. This is why we launch this Appeal to the constitution, through the world, of a universal laic gathering. In an interdependent world, it is from now on impossible of to separate the freedom of conscience from the universal concept of laicity, and of that of equality between men and women. Populations under moslem laws aspire, they also, with freedom and with democracy, which is incompatible with religious hegemony. We call the women and the men, in all the countries, with to constitute a force of resistance for a laic international movement :

For laicity


against all the forms of racisms, integrisms, them dividing communautarisms. For the equal rights for all and all whatever the origin. Against all ethnic, social or sexual discriminations. For the freedoms of conscience and expression.

For the friendship between the people


On these objectives, a collective of initiative (open) is made up for a first laic international meeting in Paris, on February 10 and 11 th 2007.
